I had been travelling the outback in November suffering from mid 40 degree heat for weeks.

So I decided I had had enough and it was time to head back to the coast. I went via Townsville and eventually wound up on Hamilton Island. For all of my life I had heard about this magical place known as the Whitsundays in Queensland so it seemed only logical as a destination.

Hamilton Island was just beautiful, smaller than I expected, but an ideal destination for a day trip via ferry from Airlie Beach.

It was still hot :) but I managed to walk around the island eventually making my way down to the resort side were the main beach was. Exhausted I collapsed into a sun lounger chair in the shade of a coconut tree and gently drifted off to sleep to the gentle ocean breeze and distant sounds of small waves lapping at the sand.
