This painting depicts the escarpments of the Blue Mountains bathed in afternoon light. The sandstone cliffs and the track leading down to the edge of the cliff made for a pleasing subject. I painted this work because I liked the contrasting shadow shapes in the foreground native vegetation against the more atmospteric cliffs in the background. This painting is on stretched canvas with painted sides and can either be framed or hung as it is presented here.
